Comedian Kyle Kinane picked up mountain biking when he was thirty. It falls in line with his love of doing things on his own terms, where the real competition is with himself. Kyle's interviews was one of my favorite and he had some really fun, strong thoughts on comedy. Then we spent the day up in the mountains on the back side of Los Angeles.
Comedian Brooks Wheelan likes to go hiking and take photos wherever he goes. We hiked up in Point Mugu, just north of Malibu on a gorgeous, sunny day. Brooks wished there were more clouds to shoot, but he realized he was being an asshole, and how lucky he was just to be in such a gorgeous place. We shared a few beers and chatted life and comedy.
So you know what we're laughing about half way through: One of Beth's biggest tweets is, "I've been called a "female comic" so many times, I'll probably only be able to answer to "girl daddy" when I have children."
Comedian Beth Stelling does Bar Method as often as she can, which isn't often enough for her tastes given how many days she's flying around the country, doing the Lord's work of good comedy. We talk about exercise and humor and about first impressions in comedy.
Comedian Randy Liedtke used to rollerblade as a kid and then, "as did the rest of America," gave it up. Now, he's back. What began as a bit has become a genuine hobby.
We spent the day with him showing me tricks, me hoping he wouldn't fall, and heading out towards Santa Monica for a little rollerblading sunset.
