Outside Comedy is a documentary series in development about the passions and hobbies of comedians outside of their normal comedy lives. Charming, intimate, and un-rehearsed, it's a deeper look at how these skilled observers think about the world and how they engage with the world away from the stage.
Petecia "Le Fawnhawk" Maggiori and Mark Maggiori are Los Angeles based artists and they're married and in love. They're friends of mine who take a lot of their inspiration from the desert, digging deep into the nature and legend of the American wild west. I asked if I could go with them some time and make a portrait of them. This piece is about how an artist is viewed from the one who loves them and how they inspire one another. And it's about my own, imperfect, messy, human love for them both and trying to capture a bit of them in my own art.

Reach is an experiment in travel documentary, where the cast would be the only crew. We eight filmmakers and explorers would set out alone over a weekend and try to document the intimacy, humor, friendship and discovery that happens when people travel somewhere new together and have an adventure. This project was a blast, and it's my hope that we can someday develop it further. Reach is about the adventure, but it is also about how to tell a story.
